Cervical Cancer Awareness and Preventive Screening: Insights from Mayo Clinic Experts

In commemoration of World Cancer Day 2024, RSPP (Rumah Sakit Pusat Pertamina) invites you to delve deeper into the importance of preventive screening. By gaining a better understanding of this vital aspect, we can contribute towards effectively implementing the theme of "Close the Care Gaps." This initiative aims to raise awareness and emphasize the significance of regular screenings in reducing the impact of cervical cancer, aligning with the global effort to bridge the healthcare disparities.

It`s crucial for women to understand the importance of preventive screenings. Mayo Clinic gynecologic oncologist Dr. Kristina Butler explains in a featured video the significance of routine Pap smears or HPV screenings in detecting precancerous cells, empowering individuals to stay informed and maintain good health through preventive care. It is recommended for most women to start cervical cancer screening at age 21, with regular screenings every 3 to 5 years. By reducing the risk of cervical cancer through safe sex, HPV vaccination, and regular screenings, individuals can take charge of their health and contribute to the observance of World Cancer Day.
